TalkByText Home Edition turns a PC with a broadband connection into a fully working textphone

a massive leap forwardimage of a banana typing on a computer
Pioneering software developed by RNID is set to revolutionise the way people communicate with friends and loved ones by providing real-time text conversation on the PC. TalkByText Home Edition turns a PC with a broadband connection into a fully working textphone, so you can keep in touch with friends and family.

It offers users character-by-character real-time text, essential for proper conversation and for people with a hearing loss making calls via a text relay service to hearing people's voice phones. Using it could not be easier: just install the software and follow the on-screen instructions. No complicated configuration or additional costly equipment is needed.

RNID's Director of Technology, Guido Gybels, said: "This is a massive leap forward. It gives deaf and hearing people a simple to use, modern solution that allows them to communicate with anyone else over the telephone." It can be bought and downloaded online at http://www.ictrnid.org.uk/tbthe.html
